Network Berlin

Since 2017, there has been a dedicated community in Berlin which supports people in suicidal crises, their relatives and survivors. The Suicide Prevention Network Berlin now unites more than 50 organizations that are committed to suicide prevention in various areas. They show that there is help in a mental health crisis. Through the interdisciplinary, professional exchange with each other, the Suicide Prevention Network Berlin bundles knowledge and experience and enables strong, joint public relations work.

The Suicide Prevention Network Berlin is coordinated by the Berlin Suicide Prevention Center. Together, we are working on improving suicide prevention by following central areas of development.

[U25] Berlin Online Suicide Prevention
[U25] is an online counseling service for young people under 25 in crisis and at risk of suicide. The counseling is provided online, regardless of where the person lives, and is confidential and free of charge. The counseling is provided by young volunteers who are trained and supported by full-time staff.

St. Joseph's Hospital Berlin Tempelhof - Clinic for Mental Health in Childhood and Adolescence
The Clinic for Mental Health in Children and Adolescents treats children and adolescents with all forms of mental illness and developmental disorders. The clinic is responsible for the two Berlin districts of Tempelhof-Schöneberg and Steglitz-Zehlendorf. However, according to the principle of free choice of doctor, patients living in other districts also have the opportunity to register. Treatment and care take place in the institute outpatient clinic, in a fully inpatient and in a partially inpatient area with a total of 60 treatment places. In addition, we have established a ward for adolescents with psychosomatic complaints with six treatment places together with our Clinic for Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine. A school with a special education center is integrated. For emergencies, the inpatient and outpatient services are available 24 hours a day.

The purpose of the TelefonSeelsorge is to give every person in distress, despair or suicidal danger the opportunity, with respect for his or her freedom, to make immediate contact with a person who, like a friend, is ready and able to listen to the caller and to have a helping conversation with him or her. The telephone help is provided in Russian language. Through this project we provide an effective service for Russian-speaking people with a migration background in emotional and psycho-social emergency and crisis situations.
